Optional Competitions and Side Awards
This page will explain to you the Optional competitions and Side Awards for the 2002 Pageant America competition.
Each Optional or Award has it's own judging criteria, required materials, and in some cases additional entry fees.
All additional required materials and/or fees for Optional Competitions or Side Awards must be in the pageant office
prior to or on February 8, 2002 unless otherwise specified for contestant to be eligible to compete for said
 Optional Title or Side Award.



2002 Optional Competitions


Pageant America Cover Miss
This prestigious title will be awarded to the contestant that sell the most ads for our 2002 program book.
The winner will be chosen on the dollar amount of ads sold. To enter, competitors must sell ad space
 in our program book, and turn in all print-ready ads and funds collected prior to the February 8, 2002
deadline. The winner of this title will receieve the title of  Pageant America Cover Miss, banner, tiara,
certificate,  featured on the inside front and/or back cover of our 2003 program book, small crown pin,and publicity

Miss Pageant America Talent
This title will be given to the most talented among our Pageant  America delegates. Delegates will be given
3 minutes to perform their talent. Talent must not require the use of any large or cumbersome props, special staging, lighting, or other special effects. All contestants that require the use of the pageant's sound system must have their own music on tap, cued to the music that is needed.Judging will be based on style, stage presence, presentation and
overall impression. The winner will receive the title of Miss Pageant  America Talent, tiara, banner, small crown pin, and publicity on our website and in our literature. There is an additional $25.00 fee to enter this competition.
Crowned on-stage after the pageant competition has been completed.


Miss Pageant Community Service
This title will be awarded to the delegate that sells the most boosters for or chosen charity. Each booster
costs $1.00 and every booster sold counts as a vote for the seller toward the title. The charity benefitting
 will be announced very soon. To enter contestants must get contributors to sign a 'Booster Sheet', and
donate a dollar. Contributors may sign the sheet more than once. All sheets and money must be turned in
 at the pageant competition. The contestant collecting the most booster signatures and donations will receive
 the Miss Pageant  America Communty Service title, tiara, sash, small crown pin, and publicity on our website and
in our literature. Crowned on-stage after the pageant competition has been completed.


Miss Pageant  America Model
This title is based on photogenics and will be awarded to the one delegate whose portfolio is judged the best.
Contestants must bring their portfolio containing a minumum of  5 photographs and a maximum of 15
photographs to the pageant for judging. The photos contained in the portfolio may be blk & white or color,
may be from snpashot size up to 8X10, and should be of varied images. Others may appear in photos with you,
and the images may contain sashes/crowns from this or other pageant systems. The winner will receive the
title of Miss Pageant  America Model, tiara, sash, small crown pin, a professional photo shoot,
and publicity on our website and in our literature. There is a $25.00 fee to enter this competition.

Miss Pageant  America Congeniality
Voted on by the other contestants as the nicest and most sportmanlike person entered in the pageant. Each
 contestant by private vote during the Delegate's Buffet Breakfast will cast 1 vote each for the contestant they
 feel displays the qualities of good sportmanship and sisterhood in pageantry. The one contestant receiving the
 most votes will win the Pageantry Magazine Spirit Award, Congratulations Letter from The Dunns, and a year's
subscription to Pageantry Magazibe. Publicity on our website and in our literature. All contestants are entered
in this competition. Awarded on-stage after the pageant competition has been completed.


Miss Pageant America Volunteer
This will benefit the Hope in Christ Ministries & the Monmouth & Ocean Counties (NJ) Foodbank. Contestants
 will bring with them to the pageant as many canned goods and other nonperishable food items to be donated
 to the foodbank. The contestant supplying the most items for the foodbank will win the Title of
Miss Pageant America Volunteer 2002, tiara, sash, small crown pin and publicity on our website
 and in our literature. Crowned on-stge after the pageant competition has been completed.




2002 Side Awards


Each of these winners will be presented with a lovely framed
Certificate of Achievement at the Awards Breakfast on March 9, 2002.


Personal Achievement (Any age division)- Essay of no more than 250 explaining the hardships or obsticles
you have overcome and the lessons you learned from them. To be submitted regular mail by Feb. 8, 2002.

Academic Achievement (Elementary- Grades 4-8) Submit copies of most recent past 2 report cards/progress reports.
Must be enrolled in and currently attending a public or private elementary, middle school, or Jr. High School. 2-08-02

Academic Achievement (Sr.- Grades 9-12) Submit copies of most recent past 2 report cards/progress reports. Must be
currently enrolled in and attending a public or private school. Submit by 2-8-02

Collegiate Academics (Post H.S. College, Trade or Vocational Students) Submit copies of most recent past 2 report cards/progress reports. Must currently be attending traditional college, trade or vocational school, or post H.S. career-training program. Submit by: 2-8-02

Leadership (For those in the Ms., Elite Ms., & Elegant Ms. Divisions) Submit an essay of no more than 250 words
on the topic: "What I believe makes a person a good leader", and a resume with supporting documentation of any
and all leadership roles you have held. Submit by: 2-8-02

Future Leader (For those in the Jr. Miss, Teen Miss & Miss Divisions) Submit an essay of no more than 250 words
on the topic: "What I believe makes a person a good leader", and a resume with supporting documentation of any
and all leadership roles you have held. Submit by: 2-8-02

National Pride Award (2; 1 for Jr. Miss/Teen/Miss Divisions- 1 for Ms./Elite Ms./Elegant Ms. Divisions) An essay of
no more than 300 word based on the following topic to be submitted via mail prior to or by the February 8, 2002 deadline:
"What national symbol, document, monument, treasure, person or ideal do you feel best represents
America, and why do you feel this (thing) is so valuable to the history and/or spirit of our county?"

Best Original Platform- (Open to all Divisions) A written summation of an original pageant platform,
charitable cause or  foundation created solely be the contestant. Must be submitted to the pageant
office by mail on or prior to the February 8, 2002 deadline.

Best Adaptive Platform (Open to all Divisions)- A written summation of acontestant's pageant platform that supports
an already established or well-known charity cause or foundation. Must be submitted by mail to the pageant office
prior to or by the February 8, 2002 deadline.

Philanthropy Award (Open to all Divisions) For the contestant that dedicates themselves to many
charites, causes, or foundations. A resume of works for these charities/causes/foundations along with supporting documentation must be submitted to the pageant office prior to the February 8, 2002 deadline.

Ambassador's Award (Open to all Divisions) An Ambassador is a representative, in this spirit an essay of no more
than 300 words on the following specific topic must be submitted via mail prior to the Feb. 8, 2002 deadline:
"In this time now more than ever, how do you feel you could be a positive and effective representative of
the American people?"

Director's Award (Open to all Divisions) A written essay of no more than 250 words on the following topic to be
submitted to the pageant office prior to or by the February 8, 2002 deadline: "What responsibilites if any do
you feel a Titleholder has to her  Title, Director, and herself  during her reign?"

Program Book Star (Open to all Divisions) To be presented to the one contestant with the highest amount of
Advance Program Book sales. Program Book purchased at the event cannot count toward this award.

All orders/money must be submitted by: 2-8-02

Pageant Spirit Award (Open to all Divisions) To be presented to the one contestant with the highest amount
of Advance Ticket Sales. Winner will be determined by the dollar value of tickets sold, not the number sold.
Tickets counting toward the award are Talent, Luncheon, Awards Breakfast, & Pageant tickets sold
in Advance. All orders/money must be submitted by 2-8-02

*NOTE: All essays/items submitted to the paegant office for cometition in Side Awards or
Optionals will be returned to the contestant at the mandatory Contestants Meeting on 3-9-02
